pocket ponyo

Have you seen "Ponyo" yet? :D

I spent the weekend obsessing over making Ponyo and many hours later came up with this.

The hardest part was the waves around the skirt and then I did the mirror image in white to go under the body. Second hardest was getting the odd head shape. Still not happy with it and how I placed the eyes. The eyes look odd, but then she looks odd, a human head on a fishie body? Also not happy with the hair which came out lighter and fluffier. Maybe the eyes are too big for the head. *sigh*

This one will go to my Niece #2 (who I took to see the movie and she liked it x 5!) and I can make the second one for meeeee. With smaller eyes 'n darker hair.

I do like the nose and the smile, and the flippers. The hair I experimented on by combing the yarn, separating the plies. But look, she has a fat belly, like the song.

Pattern Please
I beg you give us your pattern so that I may make one of these for my 5 year old son who LOVES Ponyo. He says he wants to marry her lol. He adores Ponyo and though I can knit, I have never actually designed anything on my own (blush). Please help!!
Pretty please :-)

Hey there! Stumble upon sent me here... do you have a pattern posted somewhere for this! I must make one. If you don't perhaps I can commission one from you or do you have an Etsy?? Ponyo was so good, but my friends and I got strange looks for going to a G rated movie.

What's stumble upon?

No pattern yet, as I can't figure out how to describe making hair. :/ That's a stumper.

Ponyo is for all ages! =)

Stumble Upon
Google Stumble Upon and you'll find that its a toolbar to add on to Firefox (if you use that for your web browser) basically you tell it things you like and then when you click the button it throws up random webpages that you might be interested in looking at. It will suck up all your free time if downloaded!

Sad to hear about the lack of a pattern, but thanks for the great idea!

Re: Stumble Upon
Thanks, I checked out Stumble Upon. I couldn't find myself! Hrum.

I have an idea of making different hair for Ponyo #2, as I did promise this one as a gift. Just need time to get round to it, as usual! Many distractions. I also think it would be fun to make lots of simpler ones, a crowd of little sisters!

Re: Nice work!
Thank you! I really enjoyed looking at your blog! The pictures of your knitting just leap off the page in happy "Snoopy dance" of color.

cutest thing ever.
I LOVE Ponyo. my xmas gift from by bf was Ponyo themed which included a full sized movie poster, a little stuffed doll of her, and a hard cover picture book based on the movie. Ive recently started knitting and I'm obsessed. if a pattern is created for this i would love to try it out.

Re: cutest thing ever.
Thanks. Have you seen the toy of Ponyo with a slice ham? You pull out the slice of ham on the string and she moves toward it, pulled by the string. Cu-ute. I don't have a pattern right now. I would have to think of a simpler way of describing how to do hair.

I know that was a completely different post, but I just wanted to say, I loved how you were able to modify your Rose pattern to suit Jenny, it has given me some great ideas for some Christmas presents using a few different patterns ^__^

Thanks! I am amazed what clever people have done to modify that pattern. I've seen her made-over wonderfully as River, Martha, Donna, Amy, and Ace.

Nov. 20th, 2011 08:03 pm (UTC)
