When I went to Costa Rica in July, I had the good fortune to meet up with amigurumi-maker Natalia who graciously spent an afternoon showing me around San Jose. We visited craft stores for yarn hunting, bookstores (craft sections, of course), an indoor market and public art (I got a photo with the Fat Lady). Nat was wonderfully kind to come out to meet me. We'd never met in person before --and as we started talking, we just gabbed along nearly non-stop! Hehe. She is a warm, generous, vivacious, thoughtful person. I felt very fortunate indeed after days of sightseeing to see a different side of CR culture on my last full day there.
Flan is one of Natalia's patterns. It's so tasty looking I went out and got some store-bought flan after making it. Not the same as home-made, I'm sure. But when you have a craving, there it is.
I thought it was sort of funny that I didn't have to buy anything to make this pattern -- I already have so much crafty stuff, I had all the ingredients. When does that happen? Hardly ever.
I decided to call it Humble. Yes, it does look fancy with the toppings, but the name seems to fit.
Must go eat flan now.
Natalia blogs as Fidgety Crochet and the pattern is at her online shop here.
